Connect Claude Desktop, or Claude on the web, to Agent Vault so it can check out and sign in for you, using only mock tokens. It takes about 3 minutes in the app’s settings. Claude can’t add a connector from a chat, so there is no line to paste.

Pick Claude Desktop on your dashboard to get the connector URL and the steps.

Before you start

  • An Agent Vault account, with a card if your agent will check out. New here? The Quickstart sets one up in about 5 minutes.
  • Claude Desktop or claude.ai. On a Team or Enterprise plan, someone who can manage connectors adds it first: see On a Team or Enterprise plan.

Add the connector

1

Open Connectors

In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Connectors. On claude.ai, open Customize → Connectors.
2

Add a custom connector

Press + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it Agent Vault, enter this URL and press Continue:
3

Keep the detected sign-in settings

Claude shows the sign-in settings it detected. Press Continue again.
4

Choose how it signs in

Choose Sign in now, and keep Use Claude’s published identity, or choose Register automatically. Don’t choose Use your own OAuth client: no client ID or secret is needed. Press Add.

1

Connect

Next to Agent Vault in your Connectors list, click Connect. Sign in on the Agent Vault sign-in page that opens, with your Agent Vault account.
2

Turn it on in your chat

In a chat, click +, open Connectors and turn Agent Vault on. Connectors are off in each chat until you turn them on.

Choose what it may use

A new connection starts with nothing granted, so your agent can’t use a card or a login yet. Until you choose, its first tool call answers:
The connection itself appears in the dashboard only once your agent makes its first tool call, so make that call first.
1

Make a first call

Ask your agent to call get_token_catalog. It answers with the message above, and the call creates the connection.
2

Open Connected apps

In the dashboard sidebar, under Vault, click Connected apps. The new connection’s row shows Choose what it may use.
3

Pick its cards and logins

Click Choose access. Under Cards and Logins, pick All, or keep Only selected and tick the ones this agent may use.
4

Check the choices, then click Save access

Your first connection’s dialog opens with nothing ticked. After that, a new connection’s dialog opens with the choices of the connection you used most recently, so saving it unchanged grants the same cards and logins, and the same three switches: Let this app create and change its own logins, Ask me before every purchase from this app and Fill a test card instead of my card. Check all of them for this agent before you click Save access.
You can change or revoke the connection on the same page at any time. See Connected apps.

Check it works

In a chat with Agent Vault turned on, ask Claude to call the Agent Vault tool get_token_catalog. It answers with the mock tokens for the cards and logins you allowed, such as av_card_1_number_u7x2k. Your real card number never reaches the chat.

On a Team or Enterprise plan

On a Team plan only an owner can add a custom connector. On an Enterprise plan, an owner or someone whose role includes managing access to Libraries can. Ask them to add it under Organization settings → Connectors (Add, then Custom, then Web), with the same URL and the same sign-in choices. You then find Agent Vault in your Connectors list and connect it as above.

Troubleshooting

You chose Use your own OAuth client. Remove the connector and add it again with Use Claude’s published identity or Register automatically.
Connectors are off in each chat until you turn them on. Click +, open Connectors and turn Agent Vault on.
The connection has nothing granted yet. Follow Choose what it may use, then ask again.
